The Fleur Cinema & Café Announces the Return of the Red Carpet Gala

Des Moines, Iowa (January 24^th, 2024) – The Fleur Cinema & Café, in partnership with Community Choice Credit Union, is excited to announce the revival of the original Red Carpet Gala. The fundraiser event, slated for Sunday, March 10^th, celebrates movies’ biggest night. All proceeds will be donated to Greenlight Grants in support of Iowa filmmakers.

The evening promises Hollywood glamor and movie magic. A black-tie affair, guests will be welcomed by a red carpet and velvet ropes. A photographer will be available for individual or group photos against a themed backdrop. Specialty hors-d’oeuvres and beer, wine, and champagne will be hosted. The concession stand will be open for purchases. The highlight of the gala will be a live broadcast of the awards ceremony on the big screen. Throughout the evening, guests will have an opportunity to participate in a raffle. All funds generated from the raffle will also be donated to Greenlight Grants.

Tickets for the Red Carpet Gala are available at two levels of support: Tier One tickets, at $70 per attendee, include complimentary hors-d’oeuvres, two drink vouchers, a swag bag, and early access to the event; Tier Two tickets, at $40 per attendee, include complimentary hors-d’oeuvres and a single drink voucher. Entry for Tier One attendees will begin at 3:30 P.M., and entry for Tier Two attendees will begin at 5:30.

GREENLIGHT GRANTS

The Iowa Arts Council and its Greenlight Grants program make grants between $10,000 and $50,000 available to Iowa filmmakers. To qualify for these funds, individuals must apply for a specified amount and provide a 50% cash match. The aim of the program is to jumpstart local film projects and to support the arts in Iowa. 

THE FLEUR CINEMA & CAFÉ

The Fleur Cinema & Café, operated by Des Moines-based Fridley Theatres, is Iowa’s premier destination for art house and independent theatrical content. The cinema re-opened in September after a years-long COVID hiatus. It regularly hosts directorial debuts, Q & A sessions, and film festivals. At its concession stand, it offers popcorn, soda, specialty baked goods and coffee drinks, and a selection of local beer and wine.
