Starts March 21st - Featuring Introduction and Live Q&A with Producer and Ames native Nicolaas Bertelsen at 7:00!
Army veteran Timothy McVeigh hatches a deadly plan after the Waco siege. A psychological thriller depicting the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in U.S. history.
Director Mike Ott puts a microscope onto Timothy McVeigh (Alfie Allen), perpetrator of the single deadliest act of domestic terrorism in U.S. history — the Oklahoma City bombing. Over days and nights, McVeigh eats, sleeps, watches the news, meets a girl… all while inside his mind brews an unthinkable plan that will forever change the collective American psyche — one that he loops fellow conspirator Terry Nichols in on (played by a creepily subdued Brett Gelman). An unexpected cast brings these characters to life with a stunningly subtle hand, and the film neither sensationalizes real life events nor gives into the quiet, devastating tension sustained from beginning to end.
Like a bird circling inevitably closer into the tragedy at its center, the film paints around the edges with swift and sparse strokes. What emerges is a deeply unsettling likeness of the American memory.
Featuring Q&A with Producer Nicolaas Bertelsen
Producer Nicolaas Bertelsen hails from Ames, Iowa, and became interested in film as a child when he discovered that his grandfather played a small role in THE GODFATHER: PART II. This opened the door to the idea of working in film - for a kid who couldn’t have been more removed from Hollywood.
Nicolaas has over 25 years of physical production experience, and along with his company CinemaWerks, most recently produced MCVEIGH (Tribeca 2024, starring Alfie Allen, Brett Gelman, Ashley Benson), BANG BANG (Tribeca 2024, starring Tim Blake Nelson, Glenn Plummer), and three feature-length films that became “found footage” for Sam Barlow’s BAFTA Award-winning interactive film video game IMMORTALITY (Tribeca, Edge 10/10, The Game Awards nominee).
Previous to that he produced DRIVEWAYS (Berlin, Tribeca, Independent Spirit Award nominee), Director Andrew Ahn’s sophomore feature starring Hong Chau & Brian Dennehy, distributed by FilmRise; and THE TOMORROW MAN (Sundance), starring John Lithgow & Blythe Danner, distributed by Bleecker Street & Sony Pictures Worldwide.
His other recent feature films include SPEED OF LIFE, Director Liz Manashil’s sophomore feature, starring Ann Dowd & Allison Tolman, RUST CREEK (Netflix Top 10), DEIDRA & LANEY ROB A TRAIN (Sundance), Steven Caple Jr.’s first feature THE LAND (Sundance), END OF FALL (New Filmmakers New York), YOSEMITE (Slamdance), MEMORIA (Austin Film Festival), and THE LABYRINTH (Screamfest).
Nicolaas holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Cinema-Television Production from the University of Southern California - where he also teaches Producing - and is a member of the Producers Guild of America.
