IMPA Workshop Series: Production Design
The award-winning filmmaking team of Shelby Hagerdon and Dr. Michael White will offer a filmmaker meet-up on June 26th beginning at 5 PM, followed by an in-person and virtual workshop on cinematography as a storytelling device.

Synopsis
Dr. Michael White teaches film production and theory and advises the film program at Wayne State College.
Prior to his doctorate, White’s professional experience included working in both television news and advertising production as an award-winning producer. White is himself an active independent filmmaker. He has made four feature films and was the 2023 Iowa Motion Picture Doug Hawley Presidents’ Award for Lifetime Achievement in Film recipient.
Shelby Hagerdon is a producer and writer at Made By Things, an award-winning animation studio. She is also an independent filmmaker and screenwriter with many producing, directing, and writing credits across a multitude of projects. She has produced four features, all of which have gone to win awards in directing, writing, and production.
Shelby received her BAs in Film Production and Theory and in History from Wayne State College. Shelby also holds an MFA in Writing for Film and Television from Emerson College, one of the top American film schools.
